Turkey’s main opposition CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu expresses deep sorrow and cancels all party election programs across the country after the deadly twin bomb attack that struck a peace rally in Ankara on Saturday that killed 30 and injured over a hundred.

We are in deep sorrow… Our youth are being sacrificed to terror,” CHP President Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu told reporters in Istanbul, where he announced that his party’s campaign events across the country have been cancelled.

“I do not want to directly blame anyone, but tell me is this how the country should be governed,“ the CHP leader asked, while calling on Ankara to take action.

“Turkey, especially as a country that aspires to become an European Union member, does not deserve to be dragged into death and bloodshed.”

In his statement to the press Kılıçdaroğlu also issued a call for unity against terror. “This country belongs to all of us and irrespective of our different political views or religious beliefs, all of us need to voice a unified stance and condemn terror.”
