‘Just as we have experienced in Gezi Protests, the oppression and the violence of any government for the sake of hiding their corruptions and abuse of power wasn’t and will never be able to have the people step back from their fight for freedom.’

Since November 11, Ukrainian fellows have been standing against the widespread government corruption, abuse of power, and violation of human rights at the cost of their lives.

Continuous deterioration of democracy and the rule of law got pass endurance of the people of Ukraine. Following the recent decision of the Ukrainian Government to suspend the process of preparation for signature of the Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the EU and Ukraine, the rage and the desperation of people was united in Euromaidan Square of Kyiv.

Since its declaration of independence in 1991, Ukrainian people witnessed gradual rise of authoritarian tendencies of the leaders, promised to improve democracy in the country.

Ukraine and Turkey have the same fates in this sense. Ukrainians’ opposition to arbitrary decisions and authoritarianism of Viktor Yanukovich, has come into existence in Turkey against Erdoğan’s rising authoritarianism.

Just as we have experienced in Gezi Protests, the oppression and the violence of any government for the sake of hiding their corruptions and abuse of power wasn’t and will never be able to have the people step back from their fight for freedom.

We offer our deepest condolences for the courageous ones who have lost their lives struggling and wholeheartedly salute each and every individual in the streets of Ukraine
